Button Collecting History 

Button collecting first became an organized hobby in Chicago in 1938.The National Button Society was then formed and their first show was the following year in Chicago.

Button collecting enthusiasts in the state of Arizona  started finding out about each other and began meeting up at each other homes in the early 1970s. 

By 1973 they formed the Arizona State Button Society (ASBS) and then the collectors of the tiny treasures decided that Arizona needed to have their own Society Club. Then members planned to have an annual button show which is held each February. This is where Members and Non-members can learn about buttons and shop for their own tiny treasures!

Arizona currently has 4 active button collecting group clubs that meet monthly. The groups have locations in the West Valley, East Valley, Tucson and Prescott; all of which are associated with the ASBS.

Membership dues for ASBS are $20 per year ($5 for Juniors) and include an emailed Bulletin 3 times a year with articles, photos, project topics, historical button research and more. 

ASBS Membership can currently be paid at our annual show in February.
